You must have often heard people say that when you way up in the morning, try to think about happy things because then your entire day would be a pleasant one. Well, let me tell you that those people don’t know anything. So, feel free to tell them to keep their fake optimism to themselves.

For those who don’t believe me, allow me to tell you my story of how the day that could have turned out to be the best turned in the worst in a matter of 60 minutes.

6:00 a.m. — Like for the past 2 weeks, today too I went for my morning walk in the park near my society. You must be thinking why I said for 2 weeks, well, the reason is exactly what most of you are thinking- a girl. Since the moment I saw her, something inside me just clicked, and I knew that no matter what, I had to talk to her. And, for the past 2 weeks, I am trying to gather the courage to do so but had no luck so far. However, today, I had decided that I will talk to her no matter what.

6:15 a.m. — I am walking back and forth across the gate from which she enters, in a hope to accidentally cross paths with her and get to talk to her. Then we would work out together and maybe, in the end, I’ll ask her for a cup of coffee (I am one of those who believes that lot can happen over a cup of coffee). Yeah, I know I had everything planned out. Only, the girl in the picture was missing.

6:20 a.m. — Finally, she arrived but to my disappointment, she was with some other girl. However, since I was standing there, I saw that she looked my way and smiled at me. Maybe it all happened or maybe it didn’t. Nevertheless, even the possibility of it happening, gave me the courage to talk to her that day.

6:39 a.m. — I saw that she was resting on a nearby bench and was alone. At that moment I was like “hell yeah, finally this is going to happen.” Slowly I approached the bench and sat, not at all showing that I was desperate to talk to her.

6:41 a.m. — I finally looked at her and smiled. In return, she smiled and guess what, she said “Hi”. Beaming inside, I replied “Hi”. And, after that single word, words started flowing out of my mouth and with each sentence I became more and more confident about her being the love of my life.

7:53 a.m. — Totally engrossed in my dreamland, imagining us on lunch dates, movies dates, professing our deep love for each other, I suddenly heard two heart-wrenching words that I never wanted to hear at that moment. Those two heart-wrenching words were “my boyfriend”. After hearing these two words, it was like I had become deaf. Let me just tell you all those cheesy scenes that are shown in movies in this situation are real. It all happened to me.

Anyway, this was not the totality of my heartbreak. This was just the beginning. Till now my heart was just shattered in pieces. But what happened after, totally crushed my heart in million pieces.

7:59 a.m. — While I stood there as a statue, she smiled at someone behind me and then moved to hug the person. Coming to my senses, I slowly turned around and heard her state this is my boyfriend with a huge smiled. After looking at the person, I once again was dumbstruck, and so was her boyfriend. Because it turns out, her boyfriend was my elder brother. And, at that moment my heart was totally crushed as I knew I had no freaking chance to win her.

8:00 a.m. — So, after few awkward pleasantries, I said my goodbyes and left them.

After the whole fiasco, I at least got to know one thing, apparent both I and my brother had the same taste in girls.
