The ‘Posh — Poor ‘ Conversation by Bhavik Sarkhedi

Poor: Did you hear about Isha Ambani’s wedding? Oh so extravagant.”

Posh: oh yes. I hate this money- mindedness in traditions. He even got Beyonce to perform and Amitabh and Amir as waiters?!

Poor: looked like the after effects of ‘Thogs of Hindustan’ to me.

Posh: haha that is true. Someone said that they spent an amount close to a royal wedding.

Poor: so what? Both of them finance their respective states. Soo.. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Posh: many weddings this year. The new generation seems to be realising the benefits of marriage.

Poor: or a Sabyasachi lehenga. Who knows? I told Anisha to get off tinder and start looking for someone to marry and i might get her a Sabyasachi lehenga for the wedding.

Posh: with lehengas so expensive, dowry times look simpler. Why do we care? Our daughters would find themselves a decent groom. Richa’s new #candid picture got her 200 likes. She’s good to go.

Poor: children these days! In our times a simple picture of the bride was okay to set up a marriage, in today’s time you have to stalk her father’s sister’s daughter’s friend to make sure it’s a match.

Posh: that’s right. And also check if her Instagram feed is aesthetic enough. You know you have to get the angles wrong in order to create ‘art’ today. Sorry i have to leave. I am going to attend a cousin’s wedding.

Poor: so tell me?

Posh: what?

Poor: How much are they spending on the wedding?
